With Fall upon us and seasonal allergies and colds going around...Crazymama wants to know:

{1} What is your feel better remedy when you are sick?
I like to have a mug of hot chocolate. I also like to be alone when possible. I hate having kids hover over me when I'm sick. Sometimes I get to be a alone, sometimes I don't. Sometimes having my hubby there to let me cry or whine helps too. He's a good guy!

{2} When illness strikes, what is your policy on staying home from work, school or church with yourself and the family?
If the kids are feverish or puking, they are not allowed in daycare so I have to call in to work. I have no choice but it is completely understandable. I usually only call in sick for myself if I'm throwing up. P usually ends up going to church even if he has a little cold. E, on the other hand, gets kept home more often. Little ones like himself don't know how to keep their germs to themselves. I appreciate moms who keep their sick kids home so I try to reciprocate.

{3} What do you think is worse? Flu or cold?
That is a hard one. Usually the flu only lasts a few hours and then your done. But I hate throwing up! Colds can last several days. As much as I hate throwing up, I'll take flu because it leaves sooner.

{4} Flu shots? Do you get them? Have you yet?
I think I've only had one flu shot in my life. I really didn't see any difference. I do get my children the flu nasal mist though.

{5} When are are feeling down, what is your usual, go-to therapy? (retail therapy, exercise, comfort food, etc).
If I'm really down, all I want to do is sleep. It if is just minimal grumpiness or slightly depressed, I usually need to talk to either J or my mom. I do like to self-medicate with ice cream or sweets. I have to be careful with retail therapy because I can't afford to do that. :-)

Curse of the Pink Eye

Our home was bombarded by germs the past week. Those weasely little buggers climbed right in and took over. As Stephanie Tanner would say, HOW RUDE!

Anyway, the germs crept up on J first. He got a nasty cold and lost his voice. I haven't heard him squeak like that is ages! It was kind of funny .... for a minute.

Then the germs found their way into P's eyes. Of course, the pink eye manifested on a school morning. See, P is in kindergarten. He goes all day on Tuesday and Thursday and every other Monday. Don't ask me why. I think it is stupid. Just send the kid everyday for half a day! Sheesh.  Okay, sorry for that tangent, let me get back to my story. This was our very first experience with pink eye and I wasn't sure if it was or not. I took a picture on my cell phone and texted it to my buddy, Evelyn. Dr. Evelyn is quite knowledgeable on the pink eye curse due to the fact that she has four kids, two of which go to public school. Dr. Evelyn concurred with my finding and suggest immediate care.

I kept the boy home from school .... he was not pleased, to say the least. We got into the doctors and got the eye drops. I totally expected it to be a major fight to get the drops into his eyes. Amazingly enough, he hasn't fought at all. He has done quite well. It also helps that I told him he wouldn't be able to go back to school until he let me do drops for several days. Worked like a charm. :-)

The pink eye seemed to get better really fast. J's voice was back and we thought we were in the clear. Boy, was I wrong. The germs were not so happy about getting evicted from our home. They burst in with full force and managed to infect both of J's eyes and are starting to attack the baby boy, E. No pink eye for the little one ... yet. I'm not going to hold my breath. For now, he is beginning the cough. He even refused to eat lunch. Yeah, something is definitely wrong. Poor bub. The ointment medicine the doc prescribed the hubby doesn't seem to be working ... at least not as fast. He is one miserable guy. Ugh, let's hope we can evicted these little buggers soon. By the way, you may want to stay away from the Lind residence for a while.

Happy List

Photobucket

I'M HAPPY that I am feeling better. I got knocked on my butt with a flu bug on Thursday. I went to be Wednesday night feeling just fine. I woke up and OH BOY it wasn't pretty.

I'M HAPPY for an awesome sister-in-law who took my kids for the day so that I could puke and ... well .... you know ... by myself. Nothing like having an almost 2-year-old stand in the bathroom watching ya puke. :-/  Thank you, L!!

I'M HAPPY for an amazing mother who drove the kiddos to my sister-in-law's house! Not only did she take the kids but she washed my van and vacuumed it out too! She is always taking care of me like that and I really do appreciate it!

I'M HAPPY for a great hubby for going to pick up the kids by himself so that I could continue to recover.

I'M HAPPY for a wonderful friend and neighbor who ran to the store and got me Sprite and Tums! :-)

I AM ONE BLESSED WOMAN TO HAVE SUCH WONDERFUL PEOPLE AROUND ME!!

I'M HAPPY that my children were able to have fun this weekend. My sister-in-law lives in the boonies country and the kids got to run wild. P was quite nervous when she let the chickens out. He finally realized they weren't going to attack him and went on with playing. My boys and her kiddos got so dirty that all had to have baths and change clothes. Now THAT is what I remember about summer as a kid. Having a blast, getting dirty, running around, and being care free!

I'M HAPPY to be making some new bloggy friends! Thanks for your wonderful comments! I am so HAPPY when I get some COMMENT LOVE! :-)
