Update and a Funny

Things have been going pretty good here at the Lind Residence. J has had a cough and cold for the past three weeks. We just kept waiting, thinking that it would just go away. It would get better for a day and then get worse again. We were trying to avoid a doctor visit and the expense but finally decided that we couldn't put it off any longer. It turns out that J has a bacterial pneumonia. EEK! They gave him an antibiotic shot in the .... erm ... rear end and sent him home with more antibiotics. We've seen some improvement so hopefully he will continue to improve!

I've been keeping busy with my work, family, and church callings/service. I serve as an advisor in the Young Women organization. That keeps me busy on Sundays and Tuesdays. I am also serving as the Assistant Stake Girls Camp Director. The camp director and I have been meeting feverishly, planning Girls Camp for this summer. It is going to be a blast! I also just realized that J and I are in charge of the Lind Family Reunion this summer. YIKES! I've got lots to do in the next several months!

P is doing awesome. He goes to preschool twice a week and seems to really enjoy it. His teacher has a private blog where she posts pictures of some of the activities that they do. The kids get to paint, play with playdoh, read, etc.  P also attends speech therapy once a week. He's been doing that for about a year and a half. He has improved so much in that time and we are very grateful for that! P absolutely LOVES to go downstairs and play with our tenant's boys. (She has 4.)  He begs to go down and play with his friends all the time. Luckily, she doesn't mind and seems to get a break from her boys because P keeps them busy.

E is doing well too! He is such a sweet boy and loves his brother and his daddy. He is such a cutie when I get home from work. He runs to me saying HI and gives me a hug. So sweet! He is slow to start talking but so was his brother. He does say No, Ow, Wow, Mom, Dad, and Bye. He loves to give kisses ... when he wants to. He likes to tease me. I ask for a kiss and he comes toward me for a second and then he runs away. RUDENESS! :-)  He is quite the hothead. He yells quite a bit and I'm trying to figure out how to deal with it. Disciplining a young toddler is hard. It's kind of cute when he gets upset. He puts both hands over his eyes and cries dramatically. He will dig his head into anything close to pout, i.e. couch, leg, floor, table, etc.

Okay, now for the funny story. P and I went to a baptism for our neighbor today. Towards the end, P said he had to potty. I made him wait until it was over and took him to the bathroom. He did his business and then we went to enjoy some refreshments with the rest of the people who attended. I was chatting away and he told me he had to potty again. I thought he just wanted to play so I just sent him to go alone. I started chatting again and realized that he had been gone for quite a while. I finally decided to start looking for him. As I got closer to the restroom, a man appeared. He said, "Do you have a little boy with brown shoes?" I said, "Yes." The man said, "Um, he is yelling for you and needs you."  So, I went into the mens room to hear P yelling, "MOM!!! I need you to wipe my bum!" Ooops!  I wonder how many people heard him hollering before I got there! :-)  A little embarrassing!

Uh Oh, Spaghettio's!

We went to my mom's house yesterday. We played for a while and then fed the boys lunch. P ate his Spaghettios like a champ. Let's just say, E had a blast eating his!

A little "chew-n-show" for ya!

What?! Am I not supposed to put 5 spoonfuls in at once?

Deep thoughts while holding the spoon, yet eating with hands.

Gotta love the sauce up in his hair! Man, I love this kid! :-)

Joy To The World!

I must sing as loud and happily as I can!  I ended up getting the newer Design Template for blogger. I hated it and couldn't figure out how to make the blog look the way I wanted. I finally started fiddling with settings and was able to set my blog back to the old template set up!!!!!  Now, I can get the backgrounds to look the way I want! YAY!!!!   Okay, sorry for that little tangent but I had to share! It is the little things that make me happy! :-)

2011 Is Looking Up!

I think 2011 is looking up!!! As I previous posted, we had some car trouble. I took it to a mechanic in town that I thought was trustworthy. He quoted me $1,375 to fix our fan. I nearly fainted and decided we'd have to park it and wait. We borrowed my sweet mother's car and were going to wait until tax returns came. My sister-in-law was shocked at the quote and asked permission to do some checking around for us. She talked to a friend from high school who is a mechanic. He quoted her a price of $690.  THAT IS HALF!!!!!!! She trusts him and believes he does good work. So, I immediately scheduled a time to take the van in .... today. So, I left it with him this morning. He finished earlier than anticipated and didn't have to do quite as much work on it as he thought. So, all in all, we ended up paying $510!!!!  Such a blessing! :-)  I am grateful that there are honest people out there. The thing that really irks me is that J's car had trouble two years ago. We took it to the mechanic I mentioned at the beginning and he charged us an arm and a leg. It makes me really wonder just how much he screwed us then. Major lesson learned. I will always check around and make sure I'm getting the right deal. I will never, ever go to Alameda Automotive again! I suggest you don't either. I'll travel the 20 minutes to our new mechanic! :-)

By the way, E celebrated turning 18 months on the 01/02/2011!!! He is getting to be such a big boy! I took him to his check up yesterday. He is 26 pounds of pure cuteness which puts him at 51%. He is 33 inches tall which puts him at 61%. I can't remember the measurement for his head but it is off the charts! :-)  He takes after his mommy and his brother. We've got lots of brains in these large noggins!

Here are some wonderful things about our sweet boy, E!
*He is now saying: No, Ow, Ma or Mom, Da (Dad), Bye
*He still loves to wear shoes. If he finds some lying around he will wear them. Even if they're his daddy's!
*He gives nice sloppy kisses when he feels like it.
*He leads with his head and smacks it a LOT!
*According to J, he is 100% adorable!
*He loves peanut butter and jelly and likes to smear it in his hair.
*He loves to play with his brother, P.
*He is a total daddy's boy.
*When he pouts, he digs his head into anything near him, i.e. couch, someone's leg, floor, wall, bed, etc.
*He loves bath time and has a major meltdown each time we take him out.

Welcome to 2011

Well, I can't believe it is 2011! Time has flown by so fast! We had a pretty good New Year's celebration. I was supposed to work on New Year's Day so we went on New Year's Eves Eve to J's families house. We went up after we got off of work. J's brother and his family came too. It was pretty fun. The first night we just ate dinner, watched movies, and hung out. On New Year's Eve we pretty much just spent time together and played all day. J's mom, my sis-in-law, and I took a little trip to the grocery store to gather up the goodies for dinner and snacks. Is it sad that that was the highlight of my day? Yeah, kind of. Anyway, the major highlight of the evening was playing charades with the adults. J's Dad even participated! Now, if you know him at all you will know that he does not like to play games. We were amazed he joined in and ended up having a blast. It is so fun to spend time with family and make a fool of yourself! ;-)

We were planning on driving home on New Year's Eve but felt that the roads probably wouldn't be safe. Possibly slick with ice but more worrisome -- drunks. So we spent an extra night. We went home bright and early the next morning. This is where the fun weekend ends ...

Around 2 in the afternoon, J started to feel a little icky. Pretty soon he was sick and throwing up. I followed suit a couple hours later. It was a pretty miserable bug. Both of us started to improve around midnight and managed to go to sleep. Around 4 in the morning, P yells from his room. We race in to find barf all over his bed. Lovely. So, J gave him a bath (whilst gagging) and I gathered his bedding to put in the wash (whilst gagging too). Luckily, by morning we were all doing better but stayed home from church to be on the safe side.

On Monday, it was back to work for us. I went to work and did just fine for a while. About 2 hours into it, I started to get a little woozy. I got a drink and walked around for a bit. It wasn't getting better. I managed to take my pricing cart to the pricing office. I worked my way up the stairs all the way feeling as though I was on the verge of fainting or passing out. I thought I was gonna barf all over the freshly mopped floors as I passed the janitor. Luckily, I didn't! I made it to the employee bathroom and had to flop on the floor in a stall. I ended up laying there for around 20 minutes before I was able to get up without passing out. I worked my way to the employee break room and found a fellow coworker. I asked him to call my boss. My boss got me a drink and asked who he should call. I ended up having him call my Mom because I knew J was really busy at work that day. My sweet mama came and rescued me. She took me home and ordered me to get hydrated. Which I followed by the way, Mom! I think that is why everything happened. I was dehydrate from the flu. So, I rested and took in a lot of fluids.

On another note, our van has been acting funny for about a month. The steering has been really hard and not nearly as easy as it should be with power steering. I went back to the Jiffy Lube thinking maybe they had forgotten to connect the fluid line or something. No such luck. Plenty of power steering fluid. Hmmm....  So, after I started feeling better on the day that I nearly passed out, we took the car to a mechanic. I told him I thought maybe the power steering pump was going out or something. He called me back and said Nope, not the pump. Argh! What is it? So, he delved a little deeper and found that the gear box in the steering column is going bad. He told me that with parts and labor they'd be able to fix it for just $1,375. YIKES! Yeah, we've just got that kind of cash lying around just waiting to be used. (Note the sarcasm.)  Anyway, as I mentioned a couple of posts back, we have been struggling financially and are living paycheck to paycheck. So, the possibility of fixing the car right now is not possible. CRAP! So, we parked it at the house and ended up borrowing one of my mom and dad's cars. We're hoping to be able to use our tax returns to fix the car. Lets keep our finger's crossed!

Now, I share this because this blog is my journal of sorts. I'm not trying to seek pity or anything. I just wanted to share and vent a little. Let's hope the rest of 2011 improves!
