4th Year Hike

I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I am back serving with the Young Women in our ward. I absolutely L.O.V.E. serving with the youth and L.O.V.E. girls camp! My greatest memories from my youth were girls camp. Anyway, our 4th years were going to do the Table Rock hike in the Tetons. I've always wanted to do the hike so I decided to join them ... even though I didn't have to. (Some people thought I was crazy)

We met at 7:00 AM and drove to the campsite.

Here is our campsite and the infamous "bear box".  We kept camp VERY clean and didn't encounter any bears. THANK HEAVENS!

After we got set up, we all did our potty business and started on the hike. It was such a beautiful hike with absolutely gorgeous scenery! :-)

Pretty little flowers all over the mountain.

One of the beloved flat parts of our hike. We enjoyed that the most. It was pretty steep in parts of it.

So pretty.

It was amazing how green it was!

Gorgeous view down the mountain valley.

Me and one of my YW stuck close together through most of the hike. There was a group of fast people ahead of us and a group with a couple slower behind us. We kept the middle up just nice. :-)

Gorgeous waterfall where we stopped and had lunch.

Our buddy the Beaver. He was very interested in us and got within a foot and a half of one of the girls.

Me getting ready to cross the creek/raging river. The creek was pretty large due to the melt off and due to the fact that there was a lot of snow this Winter. It was FREEZING!

Another pretty flower that we saw all over the mountain.

Beautiful view down the valley. We were getting far up there.

One of the creek crossings. We crossed it a total of 8 times on the way up and down. On the way up the mountain, we took our shoes and socks off with each crossing. On the way down, we just left our shoes on and trudged through. We just start to get dry when we'd have to cross again. It was cold and very swift but we had fun.

Table Rock.  This is as close as I got. My body and my lungs (asthma) told me it was time to stop. Me and two girls hung right in this gorgeous spot and took a nap. The rest of the group went for another mile or so and then came back. There was too much snow and they couldn't make it to the top.

Another creek crossing on the way back down. It was up to my friend's thighs and I'm amazed she didn't get knocked off her feet. It was pretty swift moving water. Luckily, no one took a swim. :-)

B and I celebrating the fact that we survived the hike! We were pooped but we did it!

Overall, it was a great experience and I plan on doing it again. We are thinking about doing as an annual trip and are planning on doing it in August so that hopefully the snow will be melted. Also, I plan on getting into shape BEFORE the next hike. I WILL make the top next time! :-)
